SkyVenture Aviation, Inc. is proud to participate in VA approved Flight Training programs. The following courses are approved for certain U.S. military veterans through The New Post 9/11 Chapter 33 GI Bill and the Montgomery GI Bill Active Duty (MGIB-AD):

Please Note:

  1. VA will not pay any benefits toward a Sport Pilot, Recreational Pilot, or Private Pilot Course, under any VA chapter or flight training program, unless the veteran qualifies for a VA Vocational Rehabilitation Program.
  2. VA will only pay benefits for approved Flight Training Courses conducted entirely at flight schools expressly approved to participate in VA programs.
  3. In order to qualify, you must have a Private Pilot Certificate and valid FAA Second Class Medical Certification before training begins.

Montgomery GI Bill Active Duty (MGIB-AD)

The Montgomery GI Bill Active Duty (MGIB-AD) through the Veterans Administration may pay educational benefits of up to 60% of the costs associated with the above listed courses. The MGIB program provides up to 36 months of education benefits. This benefit may be used for degree and certificate programs, flight training, apprenticeship/on-the-job training and correspondence courses. Remedial, deficiency, and refresher courses may be approved under certain circumstances. Generally, benefits are payable for 10 years following your release from active duty. This program is also commonly known as Chapter 30.

Post-9/11 GI Bill

If you are enrolled in an approved flight training course using the Post-9/11 GI Billyou may be reimbursed up to the full cost of training or $10,000 per academic year. The education calendar year runs from August to August. You WILL NOT receive the housing allowance or books & supplies stipend.

How do I apply?

Individual benefits vary widely, so it is essential that you learn exactly what benefits you are entitled to prior to enrolling in a Flight Training Course. Here are some key steps you can take to get more information concerning VA benefits for Flight Training:

  1. Complete an online application at http://vabenefits.vba.va.gov/vonapp/main.asp
  2. Call the Veteran Administration 888-442-4551 for specific information about your personal benefits
  3. Obtain at least a Second Class Aviation Medical Certificate. VA will not make any payments to an applicant who does not hold at least a Second Class Medical Certificate at the time flight training is recieved.
