FAR
Part 141 Requirements
- Hold
at least a valid Private Pilot Certificate
- Hold
an Instrument Rating in the Airplane Category or be concurrently
enrolled in an instrument rating course and pass the instrument
rating practical exam prior to completing the Commerical
Pilot course.
- Be
able to read, speak and understand the English language
- Hold
at least a third-class airman's medical (second-class
airman's medical certificate is required to exercise privileges
of Commercial Pilot Certificate)
- Pass
a written examination on aeronautical knowledge
- Pass
a practical examination on maneuvers and procedures
- Complete
a minimum of 35 hours ground training (may be computer
based self-study)
- Accumulate
120 hours of flight training including:
- 55
hours of flight training from a certificated flight
instructor that includes:
-
5 hours of instrument training
- 10
hours of training in a complex or turbine powered
airplane
- 1
cross country flight of at least 2 hours in day
VFR conditions, consisting of a total straigh
line distance of more than 100 NM from the original
departure
- 1
cross country flight of at least 2 hours in night
VFR conditions, consisting of a total straight
line distance of more than 100 NM from the original
departure.
- 3
hours in preparation for the practical test, which
must be performed within 60 days of the practical
test
- 10
hours of solo flight time which includes:
- 1
cross country flight with landings at a minimum
of three points, one of which is a straight line
distnace of at least 250 NM from the original
departure point
- 5
hours in night VFR conditions with 10 takeoff
and 10 landings at an aiport with an operating
control tower
The
following good faith estimate represents the total costs
(excluding sales tax) to complete the Commercial Pilot
Course, Part 141.
This
estimate is based on the following assumptions:
1. The student will be available to fly a minimum of 2
lessons per week in order to foster greater retention
and course continuity.
2. Course curriculum will be closely followed.
3. Student is of average ability.
