Instrument Pilot Rating - FAR Part 141
  1. Hold a valid Private Pilot Certificate
  2. Be able to read, speak and understand the English language
  3. Hold a third-class airman's medical certificate
  4. A minimum of 30 hours of ground training (may be computer based self-study)
  5. Pass a written examination on aeronautical knowledge
  6. Pass a practical examination on maneuvers and procedures
  7. Accumulate a minimum of 35 hours of instrument training time from a properly certificated flight instructor to include a maximum of 14 hours of instrument training and a flight training device.
  8. 1 cross country flight in simulated or actual instrument conditions, on Federal Airways or as routed by ATC, involving a distance 250 NM; including one segment of the flight consisting of at least 100 nautical miles between airports; involving an instrument approach at each airport; and involving three different kinds of approaches with the use of navigational systems.

The following good faith estimate represents the total costs (excluding sales tax) to complete the Instrument Rating Course,
Part 141.

This estimate is based on the following assumptions:
1. The student will be available to fly a minimum of 2 lessons per week in order to foster greater retention and course continuity.
2. Course curriculum will be closely followed.
3. Student is of average ability.
It is very possible to complete the flight portion of the Part 141 Instrument course in less time than stated in this estimate. However, experience has shown that these are realistic figures. In either case, you will only be charged for the actual hours flown, and actual ground instruction time spent with the instructor.
